Avenged Sevenfold

Avenged Sevenfold was formed in Huntington Beach, California in 1999. It consist of the following members, M. Shadows, Zacky Vengeance, The Rev, Synyster Gates and Johnny Christ. M Shadows came up with the name as a reference to the story of Cain and Abel from The Bible, although it is not a religious band. On March 19, 2002 they released their debut album Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. As of 2008 the album has sold 200,000 copies world wide. In 2003 Avenged Sevenfold released their sophomore album, Waking the Fallen which has to date sold over three hundred thousand copies worldwide. On June 7, 2005, they released their third album, City Of Evil. It featured the singles Beast and the Harlot and Burn It Down. It was certified gold in 2006 and has sold over 1.5 million copies. On October 30, 2007, they released the self titled album, Avenged Sevenfold. The album debuted at number 4 on the Billboard 200 and has sold over a million copies and produced the hit singles “Scream” and Critical Acclaim”. On September 23, 2008, the album was certified Gold by the RIAA. On January 1, 2009, the USC Trojans Marching Band performed the single “Almost Easy” at the Rose Bowl halftime show.

Disturbed

Disturbed was formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1996 when musicians Dan Donegan, Steve “Fuzz” Kmak, and Mike Wengren hired singer David Draiman. On March 7, 2000, Disturbed released their debut album The Sickness. It spawned several hit singles such as “Voices”, “The Game”, “Stupify” and “Down with the Sickness”. To date the album has sold over four million copies. In 2002 they released their second studio album entitled Believe. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and sold over a quarter million copies it’s first week. It was certified double platinum by the RIAA on September 23, 2008, the same day The Sickness was certified 4x platinum. On September 20, 2005, they released their third album, Ten Thousand Fists. It became Disturbed’s second straight number one debut on the Billboard 200 chart[4] as well as their second number one album in New Zealand. The album was dedicated to the memory of Dimebag Darrell. The fourth album released by Disturbed was Indestructible. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in April 2009, for shipping over 1,000,000 copies in the United States. The song “Inside the Fire” was nominated for a 2009 Grammy Award in the “Best Hard Rock Performance” category.

Bon Jovi

 

Bon Jovi is an American rock band formed in 1983 in Sayreville, New Jersey. It’s fronted by singer Jon Bon Jovi and features the following members, Richie Samboraon guitar, David Bryan on keyboards and Tico Torres on drums. Bon Jovi released their self titled debut on January 21, 1984. It spawned the hit single,”Runaway”. Bon Jovi then went on to release their second studio album, 7800° Fahrenheit in April of 1985. Both, their sophomore effort and their debut albums were moderatetly successful but the band’s breakthrough album was Slippery When Wet, released on August 18, 1986. It is the band’s most commercially successful album, selling over 12 million copies in the U.S. and has sold over 25 million coppies worldwide to date[1]. It was named the top selling album of 1987 by Billboard. Today it stands as one of the six best selling hard rock albums ever, and spawned two number one singles, “You Give Love a Bad Name” and “Livin’ on a Prayer”. They followed up the success of Slippery When Wet with the release of New Jersey in 1988. The album went on to sell over 7 million copies. Bon Jovi has since released the following albums, Keep the Faith (1992), These Days (1995), Crush (2000), Bounce (2002), Have a Nice Day (2005) and Lost Highway (2007). They have sold more than 120 million albums and they performed more than 2,600 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans.

Coldplay

Coldplay is an alternative band that was formed in 1998 in London, England. The current lineup consist of singer Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion. The members of the band met at the University College London in September of 1996. Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland were the first members of the band, having met one another during their orientation week. Later, Guy Berryman, a classmate of the two, joined. By 1997, the group, who had renamed themselves to Starfish, performed gigs for local promoters at small clubs. The band’s lineup was complete when Will Champion joined the band to take up percussion duties. They then changed their name to Coldplay and started working on their first album. On 10 July 2000, Coldplay released their debut album, Parachutes in the U.K. Upon release, the album quickly reached number one in the United Kingdom and In the United States, the album peaked at number 51 on the Billboard 200. It also won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in 2002. Following up the success of Parachutes, the band released A Rush of Blood to the Head in August of 2002. The album was a commercial success, debuting at number one in the United Kingdom and later placing at number seven of the country’s 20 biggest-selling albums in the 21st century. The album has gone on to sell over 11 million copies worldwide. In June of 2006, Coldplay released their third album, X&Y. It went on to be the best-selling album released in 2005, moving more than 10 million units. Their fourth album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. The album was released to critical and commercial success. It won Best Rock Album at the 2009 Grammy Awards and debuted at number on in thirty-six countries.
